about
Three months after the passing of Prof. Serrano G. Sianturi back in 2019, a special gathering took place under the umbrella of Sacred Rhythm Reborn Unison (SRRU), to pay utmost respect and recognition for the heart and soul of Sacred Bridge Foundation.
Through both Syeikhs, Marzuki Hasan and Asnawi Geunta, the invitation to “perform” not only that it was well received but with the support of five other Acehnese artists, fresh and boldly intense musical prayers were created, lasting just under 15 minutes and composed only several weeks prior to the the event.
Canang Tujoeh has not only continued to cultivate their Acehnese roots in light of today’s challenges in the heart of the capital, but through the arts, they can transfer us into the state of almost “understanding” the essence of the traditional religious life of a muslim, based on a rhythmic movement between the poles of transcendence and immanence, of rigor and compassion, of justice and forgiveness, of the fear of punishment and hope for mercy based on God’s love for humans.
Marzuki Hasan ArtChive from Sacred Bridge Foundation Library is now managed under Tradisi Records; from the very early days of his involvements with the foundation in the fields through many programs from Sacred Rhythm, Rising Above the Tsunami, On-Zen Ceremony, Rhythm Salad League, Gaung to the very recent Intra-Chromatic Clinic are well documented and kept safe. The ArtChive project of “daring minorities” will eventually be published digitally and opened for public access.
I hope you enjoy the very first release out of the 100s of Documents, Photos and hours of Videos of the Acehnese Sufi Maestro, Marzuki Hasan, as well as a few other maestros in the format of discussions, meetings, interviews, workshops, performances and inter-play/jam sessions.
